September 1999

Tue, 14 September 1999

Whoa... it has been a busy week, er, two weeks, er, three weeks. AIIEEE! Where has the time gone? The really scary part is, well, I haven't done much on Boris. I'm going to have to move faster than *this* if I expect to get him walking this month; it seems to be halfway over already!

I've incorporated the hardware from Rick onto the framework, of course; so Boris is fully assembled mechanically at least. I need to bolt the valve arrays down still, but they are doing pretty good the way they are for now.

Part of the delay has been (drum roll please) waiting for parts. The story of my life! But at least this was my fault this time. I've been working on some other projects and they need electronic components and stuff. I was waiting for those orders to go out so I could incorporate the Boris RS485 chips and some more little connectors in them. That took longer than I expected (of course, which I expected, which is a bit of an oxymoron I guess). But it's all sent in, and the bits should come back this week.

Next weekend is pretty full of assembly and programming for another project (the Goblin System beta to be precise)... but I still hope to get Boris completed soon. Well, eventually.

Hey, my book is at the printer! And the actual books should be on the shelves by the end of this month! Cool! I did an ego-search on Amazon.com and found my book and name there. That's such a kick.

Of course, I'm selling copies of the book myself, on my website. If you want to buy a copy, buy from me -- I make more money that way (if I may be so crass). If you drop me an e-mail before ordering, I'll even cut you a special "Boris Reader" discount! I don't know what that is yet, but it will be good...
