April 1999

Its been a few weeks since the last update... sorry for the delays, but life has certainly been busy during that time! The visit to Oregon was nice -- that is, it was good seeing friends. Oregon itself is still grey, cold, and damp. A beautiful state, but after a dozen years there it is also nice to be in Texas for the change of weather. Now we just have tornadoes! Good think I like wind and lightning.

Anyway, I received the remaining flanges from Rick yesterday. I immediately ran down to the lab and checked them out -- I now have every piece of metal I need to articulate all of the legs, and hopefully I'll have this done by next week. At least by the next update! The only metal bits left are the cylinder attachments -- and the difficult set of cylinder mounts are well under way, and the rest are simple (bordering on trivial). Woo-hoo!

Fuzbol is now up on its very own web page... though it isn't really fully polished, it is fully functional. In the next few weeks, I'll be upgrading the interpreter to manage external RAM, so it will transition from functional to *useful*.

No new pictures yet, but the next set should show Boris with all of the legs attached. Yeow! And just in time to think about finding a way to Bot Bash, Battle Bots, and/or Robot Wars! Not to mention an early June move-in to the new house... which is also well under way. Woo-hoo! Yeow!

Finally, I got a personal donation from Nathan Brown -- a touching gesture, and a practical one at that; it will really smooth the completion of project Boris.
