Hostage Separation

Location: Stairway (X6)

Purpose

Separate one guest. Give the group a fun ride. Let them think they have escaped.

Description

Leaving the HeroicRescue room, the guests go through another pulsating, veined hallway of plastic and through the plastic draped bug-room. Nothing unusual happens here, though. Maximum speed heartbeat sound/feel to maintain the paranoid sense. What's going to happen? Well, nothing. But they're sure not going to believe that if they hear it.

Top

Outside the bug room we have a small room set up at the head of the stairs. A familiar grillwork faces them in one of the walls. This is the exit from the madness.

The worklight set up behind the grill is very bright, making it impossible to see into the tunnel behind the light. As they enter the tunnel one at a time, they realize it is a long slide (down the stairs). The guide feeds the guests into the slide one at a time.

If there is a rescued actor, they should go first. If they do go first, they are not at the bottom of the slide when the first guest reaches the bottom. Don't explain. If he goes in the midst of the guests, he must make his exit at that time, to go off and do heroic things.

This will be a bottleneck, so may need sounds and other threats from the bug room and outside this area to motivate the guests.

Bottom

The first guest at the bottom of the slide is met by a (different)(false) Authority who shepherds this guest straight down the driveway and to the next station. "I promise, I'm sending the rest of the group right behind you." The guest may need to be briefed, for example, to scream when cut, and to not struggle too hard, but hopefully in a way that they're still pretty terrified when they see their group again.

The remaining guests are met with a (false) Authority who collects them and refuses to answer any questions. There is no explanation of the missing guest, or any acknowledgement that they ever appeared here.

The group is sent off down the side trail with their guide. At the trail junction, just up the trail towards the building, there is an actor, traumatized, lobotamized, whatever. Rocking back and forth with their teddy bear, wanting to go home, but not budging from the spot. This is just a slowdown spot, to control timing to the AlienMenace station.

Note that the separated actor has a "stalling" process, too.

Timing can be synchronized by some sound or light effect at AlienMenace.

Guide Notes

This might be tricky. Send the agent down first, if he's there. You'll once again need to get the group off the rope. Make sure the first guest doesn't have the rope!

Try to figure out ahead of time who a good person to be separated would be, and see if you can manipulate things so they go down first.

We'll need several spare ropes hidden at the bottom, just in case we can't get the rope away from the first guest.
