False Safety

Location: Just inside the main room doors (X1)

Purpose

False sense of security. Immediate sense of relief. <nop>PsyOps style prep for true terror.

Description

Inside the doors is a roughly assembled police interrogation room. A blinding light should point directly at the guests who have just entered. The actor gives it a few seconds, then turns the light off.

Dialogue proceeds, "Good. I'm glad you made it safely. Did you encounter any trouble?" Don't give them time to answer. "No, good to hear. I knew your guide could be trusted." Now give the group time to mention the guide not exiting the crawl tube.

The actor should get paranoid at this point. "I don't know what you're talking about. He's fine, I'm sure. He knows the area. I'm sure he just came in the side door. Anyway, everyone is just in this next room." Moves the guests hastily into the next station.

The door into the next station must be blockable from this side.

Not a western station but an ad-hoc security office.

Guide Notes

Cluster your group in front of the actor and stand behind the group. Move back to the front when it's time to go.

    • Painted white, dingy or dirty
  • Solid door
  • Table, chair

Effects

  • Sound overlay to mask cross-station noises: alien machine noise, country-western music
    • The country music may be central to all stations, broadcast from the rafters
    • Local sounds can be piped in from just outside the walls, working to minimize bleed
    • Personal suggestion: The Devil Went Down to Georgia (Charlie Daniel's Band) - so appropos
  • Halogen worklight on stand, with easily reached switch
  • Minimal alien scent
