Broken Station

Supply Depot Location: Wooden shelter (D)

Purpose

Bring danger into the mix, increase tension, start shifting into the mode where the group is being stalked (slowly chased).

Description

We find next the remains of a mining supply point, shelves, barrels, spare tools, maybe some beef jerky for sale (sponsor op?), rope, more red fish, etc.

This is where the claimjumpers got the stuff they used to dig up the demon. It looks ransacked, thoroughly tossed up. No actors. There is a bloody axe there, which the actor apparently used to defend himself with (and which is the cause of his doom).

There are serious blood splashes, maybe a finger, maybe a trail looking like something or someone has been dragged away.

The guide finds a radio and calls in for help.

Actor, dressed as authority, comes up, takes the radio from the guide. Tells the group, "It's a good thing you guys came by this way. Every clue we can get helps. Head for the building."

The officer starts talking on the radio, the group heads out.

If the group starts to twig to the show, the guide can be all out-of-character and tell them that, no, this is NOT a show, shut up and follow me.

Note: This can be a good timing station. The station actor can have a stopwatch and can re-establish 5-minute group spacing here. It's OK to leave the group hanging for a little while before appearing if necessary. The guide can keep them engaged in the meantime.

Guide Notes

You are the main station actor here. Be sure you know what to do.

The guide leads the group in, because you want to check on Keith, the station actor, and stops short.

"Whoa. Something's not right here. Not right at all."

Pokes around a bit. On the shelves, "My god, is that a finger?". Eventually discovers a radio (when it makes a noise?) in some out of the way spot where the group WILL NOT be able to find it. Let them be distracted by the damn fish some more :)

Radios in, "Is station 9 up at the building? I don't see the actor or techies around."

Gets told, "We're on our way. Wait there." Authoritative voice. Actor must be confident. This actor IS NOT an alien in my little script-view, but is someone the guide recognizes as an officer type, maybe the HT Rent-a-cop or some such.

Follow the station actor's cues when they arrive.

Contingency Plan: if the actor doesn't hear the call within, say, 60 seconds of the group's arrival, he shows up anyway as though by coincidence. "Glad you guys made it this far. Not long until you make the building. I'll take care of this. DON'T TOUCH THAT! Get out of my crime scene! (mutters) Damn civilians. Always..." Guide leads group off as planned.
